Message from the Dean
The Social Sciences and Humanities Division at De Anza College is comprised of nine disciplines, three professional and career programs and the California History Center.
The Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines include anthropology, economics, geography, history, humanities, philosophy, political science, psychology and sociology. Our professional and career programs are Administration of Justice, Child Development and Education and Paralegal Studies. The California History Center, with its renowned Louis E. Stocklmeir Regional History Library, serves as a repository of knowledge about Santa Clara Valley's past.
Our division has vigorously participated in the College's Four Strategic Initiatives: outreach, retention and success, cultural competence and community collaborations through the division's C.A.R. project (Conversation-Application-Reflection) with a number of faculty participants, the Social Sciences and Humanities Support Tutorial, the division's Early Alert Project and our Oral History Project, a joint venture of the California History Center and the history department.
I enthusiastically welcome you to visit all of our links with specific information about each discipline, professional and career program and the California History Center. Current contacts are listed for each.
